Emma Charlotte Duerre Watson was born in Paris France to British parents Jacqueline Luesby and Chris Watson, both lawyers. When she was a kid she attended her school, the Dragon School in Oxfordshire. Emma's ambition was to become an actor. As a young girl of six, she joined the Oxford Stagecoach Theatre Arts branch in which she was taught classes for acting, singing and dance. At the age of 10 years old, Emma took part in a variety of Stagecoach plays and productions. In 1999 casting began to cast Harry Potter and the Sorcerers Stone (2001) the movie adaptation of British author J.K. Rowling's bestselling novel. Emma was found by agents via their Oxford teacher. David Heyman told Emma along with Rupert Grint, Daniel Radcliffe after they all had eight consecutive auditions. Emma's first screen appearance took place with Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone's release in 2001. The film was also the most successful film in 2001. Its opening days and weekends of ticket sales were record-breaking. The film was praised by critics who praised the film, particularly the young performers. The Daily Telegraph praised Emma for her outstanding performance. Later Emma was shortlisted for five awards for her role in the film winning an award called the Young Artist Award for Leading Actress of a Younger in the feature Film.
